American Whiskey
American whiskeys are often a bourbon-whiskey or a Tennessee whiskey. A bourbon is made from a mixture of grains (rye, wheat, barley) and has to be at least 51% corn and Tennessee whiskey is a straight whiskey that’s produced in Tennessee. Tennessee whiskeys are very similar to bourbons in flavour and depth, and for some international trade agreements, they legally have to be defined as a bourbon.
American whiskeys tend to have a typical whiskey-smokiness but are usually a lot sweeter than Scotch whisky and irish whiskeys, with characters like honey, caramel or brown sugar.
Also in the range of American whiskeys that we sell are flavoured whiskey-liqueurs, such as Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple Whiskey Liqueur, which is very sweet and crisp, making it great to sip neat or use in cocktails.
