Ardbeg Anthology 13 Years Old - The Harpy’s Tale Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky - 70cl
The first release in Ardbeg's Anthology Series, a range of experimental single malts matured in cask types that are completely new to the distillery. The Harpy was allegedly half human half bird and roamed Islay according to mythology.
The Harpy’s Tale has been matured for 13 years, combining sweet Sauternes wine casks with bourbon casks.
The result of this marriage is a battle between sweetness and smoke. Not the traditional Ardbeg product but one that is just as the creators expected.
There's peat and faint apricot along with medicinal elements and a hint of the ocean. It slides down beautifully with a fairly long finish, honey-ish mixed with damp wood smoke.
