Vermouth

Vermouth is an aromatised fortified wine that’s flavoured with a variety of botanicals, such as roots, flowers, herbs and spices. Originally it was made for medicinal purposes, before becoming an apéritif in the late 18th century in Turin, Italy.

In modern times it has become a key ingredient for cocktails like the Martini, the Manhattan and the Negroni.
