Port Charlotte SC:01 2012 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky -70cl
Made entirely from Islay grown barley grown by seven of the distillery’s farming partners all situated within 10 miles of the Bruichladdich distillery. The barley was malted with peat from Caithness to produce a softer heathery smoke.
This bottling is a small batch release that's been carefully aged in a combination of sherry buts, 1st fill American Whiskey and 2nd fill American Whiskey casks, and then finished in top quality French oak Sauternes casks to impart a little sweetness which pairs well with the smoky aspects.
An excellent dram with notes of nuts, vanilla, sweet smoke and a little honey on the nose and a lingering fruit finish.
