Ron La Progresiva - De Vigia Mezcla 13 Cuban Rum - 70cl
Island Rum Company was founded in 2012 by two Norwegians, Tore Villard and Hans Christian Holst, and Enrique Arias, a Spanish entrepreneur based in Havana.
Blend 13 (as it translates) is a molasses-based, multi-column distilled blend of 11 year old, 13 year old, and 15 year old rums, all aged in ex-Bourbon casks in Cuba.
This is a sipping rum but would be equally at home in a cocktail.
Notes of ripe citrus fruits, sugar cane honey and oak spice, not overly sweet (due to Cuban laws) with a back note that's almost musty (but pleasant).
This is a remarkable Cuban rum.
